Fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life.

Hello Friend,

What a few months it’s been! I know a lot of you have been working from home and also staying home due to the current pandemic. As many of you know, I work in the construction industry. Here in Miami-Dade, we have been “Essential” since the first emergency order was approved. That means I have been working non-stop. I am very fortunate and grateful. Having said that, I have been working from home since mid-March with an occasional visit to the office for meetings or when bids are due. I have stepped foot in a grocery store four times since March, twice at the mall for an order pick up, and that’s it. Everything has been done through deliveries. I have not gone out to any restaurants, museum, or anything. I have gone to the beach a few times during low peak days and have gone to the pool here and there. The point is that, while I get dressed daily to keep motivated, I haven’t really been able to really get dressed for any occasions. About a month or so ago things in Miami began to open up. I decided to message a couple of my husbands friends to see if they wanted to go to a little restaurant here in Miami that is outdoors. Everyone, including myself, was excited. The plan was to go two weeks from the day we agreed so I didn’t have my eldest (my weeks with her are sacred) and I could have someone babysit the baby (she really hasn’t gone anywhere at all). I was so excited I even went online and bought a new outfit. A week rolled and the numbers here in Miami began to really spike so, we decided to scrap the idea. That was over a month ago. About three nights ago, I was washing my face and it hit me! I went to my husband laughing. He didn’t understand why and I had to give him the “I am going to tell you something. Please do not laugh or judge!” So, I went on to tell him that while washing my face I remembered I had an unused outfit, still in the box! An outfit I should return because I had nowhere to go. He laughed and said “An outfit to nowhere”. Ugh, how true is that statement? However, I did have somewhere to go… my kitchen, my living room, the mail box. Ay, you know me; dressed to impress at all times. Things have been so weird. Life is at a standstill but not really. I am excited for the day we can go out on date night and share a glass of wine, go eat and drink some wine and bubbly with my girlfriends, go visit museums and get inspired, have my daughter go to the park and not worry, and more. I miss that part of life. However, I am beyond grateful for the current stillness that this pandemic has brought. I’ve spent some much needed present time with both my girls, my honey, my family. I’ve been able to connect with my girlfriends on a more personal level, read books, journal, start sketching again and more.

Anyways, I really do hope you are staying safe and using this time for you. I know it may be hard but let’s see the positive in all of this. Wake up and write 3-5 things you are grateful for every morning. (Sarah Akiba inspired me to begin doing this) and get dressed. Get out of those pajamas, take a shower, get dressed, and make the day yours!

XX,

Heidi Coletto

During these weird times I have steared away from working in my pajamas. I leave the “Lazy Sundays” to just that; Sundays. A day I always spend with my loved ones and have breakfast in bed or stay in pajamas all day now that church and brunch are out of the question. As I mentioned before, I’ve made it a point to get dressed everyday and try to look presentable. Not just incase I have a zoom call but for ME! I swear that it makes me more productive and feel better about myself. I have not worn heels because I have a two story house and I’m constantly on the move (The ring I always close on my apple watch are the standing and the movement. Im going to just start counting that as my exercise) with the baby and work but if I wasn’t I’d for sure be rocking all my heels. They miss me! I know it. I have worn little make up but just enough to not make me look like I am exhausted or sick. Concealer has been my go to along with my eyebrow pencil and gel, sme mascara, a bit of blush and always a lip color. Typically one that lasts all day.

Be sure to follow me on Instagram. This week I will post a quick video on my WFH styling options. You won’t want to miss this one. @_heidico
